Frequently Asked Questions

What is longevity medicine, and how it is different from primary care?

Longevity medicine is a specialized clinical practice focused on early detection of disease and disease risk through advanced testing as well as application of evidence-based treatment and prevention interventions to keep you as healthy as possible for decades to come. Longevity medicine cares about your 30 or 40 year risk of disease, not just the next decade. The work happens decades before disease shows up, when the menu of interventions is widest. Primary care is structured to catch disease and manage it with prevention aimed at the population level, not you as an individual. Longevity medicine is structured to prevent disease and optimize the systems that decide how well you live in the last decades of your life — cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, cognitive, and musculoskeletal.

At Empower Wellness Medical Clinic, the Executive Longevity Telehealth Membership delivers that work through one physician caring for you as a whole person and extensive advanced testing personalized to your health and priorities to develop your comprehensive, forward looking prevention plan. The model is direct pay. No insurance billing for included services. Members are encouraged to carry insurance or a Healthshare plan for things outside the practice’s scope (emergencies, hospitalizations, surgeries). For labs and imaging beyond the included annual panel, we have negotiated discounted cash prices through partner labs, or you can also use your insurance if you prefer.
